Srisailam
Srisailam pairs a major Jyotirlinga temple with a genuinely dramatic natural setting — the shrine sits deep inside a tiger reserve, on a gorge above the Krishna River. A cable car or steep road ride down to Patala Ganga adds a real sense of adventure to the pilgrimage, and the surrounding forest gives the whole trip a wilder, more remote feel than most temple towns. Stays are simple, temple-town style, and suit pilgrims and nature-curious travellers together.
ClimateForested hill/temple town — hot summers, pleasant post-monsoon.
