Tirumala
Tirumala is one of the world's most visited pilgrimage destinations, and the atmosphere reflects it — a hilltop temple town given over almost entirely to devotion, with the Venkateswara Temple at its heart. The climb up through forested hills, past sacred waterfalls like Akasa Ganga, is part of the spiritual journey itself. Accommodation is largely pilgrim-focused, from subsidised lodges to more comfortable guesthouses, and the whole trip is built around darshan rather than sightseeing in the usual sense.
